ITH - Movie Cars - The Interview {{favouriteCount}} Quantity of Likes

25 Oct 2017

We’ve gone for a slightly different theme for the latest In the Headlights – we tackled Christian and Tim and got them to choose two cars which you can see in this week’s competition. Then we managed to sit them down and asked them 10 questions about the movies…

What’s your favourite film?

Christian Williams (CW): Fast & Furious. The first and the best. It’s the only reason I put neon under my car as a kid. I still use the phrase “Ask any racer. Any real racer. It don't matter if you win by an inch or a mile. Winning's winning." Thanks Dom.

Tim Oldland (TO): Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, hands down. It’s got comedy for days, awesome music, some of the best one-liners ever and of course – the Ferrari 250 California Spyder. Okay, it may get destroyed at the end but there’s something so cool about that car and the film as a whole.

What is your favourite movie car?

(CW): Eleanor, in Gone in 60 seconds. A Ford 1971 Mustang. It showed that a car can have personality, that it can evoke emotion and that it can also bite you in the ass. What a car.

(TO): It has to be the Lotus Esprit S1 from James Bond: The Spy Who Loved Me. The S1 Esprit was always such a futuristic and cool looking car anyway, but in this Bond movie it turns into a submarine. A SUBMARINE!!! Nothing can possibly be cooler than that.

Favourite movie car chase?

(CW): “Mad Max 2: The Road Warrior” (1981). I grew up on a farm playing with buggies and always loved the final case in this film with all the wacky vehicles.

(TO): I was tempted to say the iconic chase from Bullitt, but for me the car chase that brings me the most joy has to be the Mini chase in The Bourne Identity. It’s so brutal and realistically shot that you feel every bump and knock.

Favourite actor/actress?

(CW): Paul Walker (Brian O'Conner in F&F). I grew up with the F&F franchise and saw this guy as a hero. I was gutted when I heard the news he passed away, and not embarrassed by the fact I cried a bit in the last scene of Fast & Furious 7.

(TO): Me too brother, me too. <bro hug> Anyway, I’m a bit torn on this one – if you’re talking my favourite actor for his actual acting ability and range, emotion, all of that it has to be Tom Hanks. But if you’re talking about the actor I will always go and see, and will always enjoy watching it has to be the big man - the legend that is The Rock!! Just love the guy, everything he’s in is gold.

Last film you watched?

(CW): Transformers – The last Knight. Loved it.

(TO): Baby Driver – expected a film about an infant driving cars, was nothing like that. Still enjoyable though.

What movie character would you like to be?

(CW): Brian O’Conner as mentioned before. Legend.

(TO): Batman. Because I’m a big child.

What’s the worst film you’ve ever watched?

(CW): ‘The Others’ – About a family finding there are ghosts in their house, turns out they were actually the ghosts. Sorry, spoiler alert.

(TO): There are so, so many. But honestly the most disappointing of recent times has been Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Just dreadful and I’m a huge Star Wars fan!

Bond or Kingsman?

(CW): Kingsman for me, bit more comedy and I went to visit the tailors where it was shot the other day!

(TO): Yep I’m with Christian on this one, Kingsman hands down. Daniel Craig has made Bond seriously cool again, but Kingsman has made it cool, modern and funny. Go Eggsy!

Favourite Bond gadget?

(CW): Any car! Can’t pick a car? Ok, Omega Seamaster Laser Watch, love a good watch gadget.

(TO): The invisible cloak tech on the Vanquish from Die Another Day. It was done very badly in the film, but that tech could be very useful!

Who would play you in a movie of your life?

(CW): Will Ferrell. He’s about as goofy as me.

(TO): I’d like to choose Vin Diesel or The Rock, but a better fit is probably Adrian Edmondson from Bottom and The Young Ones…
