When Nissan revealed the 2017 GT-R at the New York Motor Show earlier this year we were really excited, but in the back of our minds we knew there was always going to be a more exciting version coming and Nissan has just taken the wraps off it – the 2017 GT-R Nismo.

The new Nismo takes the successful formula of the old model and adds in the new updates seen on the regular model, so we have a new interior with the redesigned centre console which was sorely needed, in this Nismo model it receives lots of alcantara across the dash, steering wheel and pretty much everywhere else, while there are a new set of high backed seats to keep you in place.

Outside there is a new grille arrangement with lots of carbon, new carbon housings for the DRLs and a curved front spoiler with enlarged canards at the side, while at the rear there is a new larger carbon wing. Along with the new front lights, the changes are subtle but certainly mark it out as a 2017 model and improve on the looks of the 2014 variant.

One of the biggest changes is the new 5% stiffer body-in-white carried over from the regular GT-R – this meant that the Nismo engineers could more finely tune the dampers and anti-roll bars, resulting in the 2017 model being 2% quicker through Nismo’s own slalom course.

Mechanically nothing has changed really, with the Nismo keeping the 592bhp 3.8 litre twin turbo V6 and 1795kg kerb weight, so performance should be just as ballistic as before.

The 2017 GT-R Nismo goes on sale this week for around £130,000.
