Aston Martin DB11 V8

Aston Martin DB11 V8

When Aston Martin launched the DB11 they faced their toughest task yet – replacing the achingly beautiful yet rather old DB9. Well the DB11 may not be as classically beautiful as the DB9 but it’s far more modern and is on another level in terms of technology. There is some seriously clever aerodynamic work going on, with vents and ducts that channel air through the bodywork and out of the rear deck to avoid the need for any spoilers. Inside is where we saw the first fruits of the new relationship with Mercedes-AMG as there is a whole selection of Mercedes tech for the infotainment and other assistance systems. At launch the only engine was a new 5.2 litre twin turbo V12 with 600bhp, but now Aston has launched this – the DB11 V8. If the engine size and power seem familiar that’s because they are – the 503bhp 4.0 litre twin turbo V8 is the same one found in the AMG GT-S – but there are lots of Aston tweaks to ensure it has its own character. Weighing 115kg less than the V12 model - most of which is taken off the nose – this V8 model promises to be far more dynamic and sporting than the V12 too. Best of British with a German heart? Sounds good to us…
