Aston Martin DBS Superleggera

Aston Martin DBS Superleggera

REVIEW

Seven hundred and fifteen brake horsepower. We just thought that had to spelled out for gravitas, and to get it out of the way first. That’s the incredible headline power figure for this Aston Martin DBS Superleggera – one of the most expensive cars we’ve ever had in the BOTB Dream Car Competition! So where to start with this DBS Superleggera? Outside seems appropriate as it’s one of the best things about the car – is there a better looking car on sale today? We don’t think so. With an aggressive nose featuring a massive grille flanked by intakes, sleek headlights and vents on the bonnet and behind the front wheels, it certainly looks menacing but also strikingly beautiful. The sides pinch in, but then bulge out again over the massively swollen rear arches like the best muscle cars. At the rear there are long, slim lights that stretch the width of the car and four huge exhaust pipes which emit the truly heavenly sound created by the 5.2 litre twin-turbo V12 that nestles under the long bonnet. That engine produces 715bhp as mentioned, along with an incredible 900Nm of torque. Obviously the performance is staggering with that powerplant, and sure enough it hits 62mph in 3.4 seconds and tops out at 211mph, but the way it rips through the gears will melt your synapses. This DBS Superleggera is not only a super quick supercar, but with the 2+2 layout and decent boot it’s also incredibly usable – the consummate GT car. We’re very excited this car is in the competition this week!
