The nearest most SUVs will get to going off road is parking on the verge outside the kids’ school. So why carry all that extra bulk and weight?
Audi decided that customers needed a vehicle that could tackle going lightly off road – muddy fields and tracks at worst – but still handled like a car, with car-like economy and emissions.
Thus the A6 Allroad was born – taking the A6 Avant body and giving it chunky plastic wheelarch extensions, underbody protection and air suspension to raise itself up over the rough stuff then go back down to a normal car height on road. Genius.
This latest model has a 282bhp 3.0 litre V6 diesel engine with a monstrous 620Nm of torque along with a lighter body for better performance.
