« Back Land Rover Defender 90 D250 X-Dynamic SE
Well, here it is – the reinvention of an icon. The all-new Defender!
Alongside the Aston Martin Vantage, this must have been one of the hardest design jobs in the business – replace one of the most iconic cars on the roads today, one that dates back decades and has in recent times had a resurgence thanks to the rugged cool looks. But you couldn’t go too retro or people would say it isn’t modern, so there are certainly nods to the old Defender, but it’s a fresh design that sits well in the Land Rover lineup.
Chunky wheelarches, the signature floating roof with ‘Alpine windows’ in the top, a dominating grille and big chunky tyres so you can drive over anything.
Inside it's far more modern, full of the latest tech, but it still has a reassuringly old school feel to the layout. Being the SWB 90 model, this Defender has 3 doors and plenty of room inside, while still having a decent boot, all while looking really cool and chunky. X-Dynamic SE spec brings all the toys you could want, with Premium LED headlights, 20-inch alloys, black exterior trim, keyless entry, Meridien sound system, grained leather and so many driver assist programs you’d get bored of the acronyms.
Powering this Defender is the new 3.0 litre Ingenium straight six turbo diesel engine with 247bhp and 570Nm, more than enough to move this chunky off-roader around with ease while still providing decent economy.
This is the car we’re most excited about driving this year, and you can win one right here in the BOTB Competition!
