Well, here it is – the all-new 8th Generation Porsche 911. No, really, we promise it’s the new one!
As is always the case with Porsche’s 911, it’s a case of evolution rather than revolution, so we have a car that, to the casual observer, looks almost identical to the previous 911 but is comprehensively improved in every area. As seems to be the trend, the new 911 grows – the wheelbase is longer and crucially, all 911’s now have the wide body previously reserved for the 4WD models.
But power is also up across the board, with this Carrera S model’s 3.0 litre turbocharged flat-six now producing 444bhp and 530Nm – that’s enough for 0-62mph in just 3.7 seconds or 3.5 seconds if you choose the Sport Chrono option.
There’s a whole host of new tech for the revised interior too, but basically, this is New 911 just as it always was – pretty much the best all-around sports car on sale today.
Refined, great handling, fast, practical and fantastic to look at with a badge that has 70yrs of history behind it.
Given that you can drop the roof on this Cabriolet version as well, it makes the whole 911 experience even more visceral as your ears can enjoy the flat-6 screaming away should you desire, or just chill out and feel the wind in your hair...
