« Back Porsche Cayenne Turbo S e-Hybrid
The Porsche Cayenne has always been a mighty impressive SUV, from the sporting way it drives to the fact that it single handedly saved the 911 GT3 from extinction by giving Porsche a huge cash cow.
The Turbo has also always been one of the most powerful SUVs on sale too, as is befitting something from the famous Stuttgart manufacturer. So with the latest Cayenne Turbo S e-Hybrid they’ve happily placed themselves right back at the top.
Yes there may be more powerful SUVs out there, but none can combine 671bhp with a paltry 85g/km of CO2 and can return over 50mpg – that’s the wonder of Porsche’s e-Hybrid system.
So the 4.0 litre twin turbo V8 in this Turbo S is bolstered by electric motors, meaning there’s a scarcely believable 850Nm of torque and this Turbo S can dash to 62mph in just 3.8 seconds. Yes, they could make that engine produce 671bhp on its own and the car would weigh less and be quicker, but it couldn’t cruise around town silently in EV mode or use that electricity to ensure power is reaching the ground in all weather and conditions.
The Cayenne Turbo S may be expensive, but there isn’t another vehicle on sale that does as good a job of combining looks, quality, performance, practicality and economy – and you could win one this week in the BOTB Dream Car Competition!
