When you see a side shot of the new BMW 4-Series, you’d be forgiven for thinking they had just taken an 8-Series and put it in a hot tumble dryer for 2-3hrs – they share a side profile for sure.
Around the back there are sleek rear lights like you’d see on the 2-Series GC, while the sides are a lot less busy than before, very clean and stylish. Inside it’s very similar to the previous 4-Series and classic BMW style – driver focused and clearly laid out.
Engine-wise, this M440i packs a 369bhp punch from the straight-six turbocharged engine, along with 500Nm ensuring a 0-62mph in just 4.5 seconds – and this isn’t even the M4! That power goes to all four wheels via the excellent ZF 8-speed automatic gearbox.
Well, we couldn’t end this short review without commenting on the front end of the new M440i – it’s certainly unique! The new massive grille is meant to evoke memories of classic BMWs, and gives the 4er a look that makes it stand out from the other cars in the BMW range. The M440i trim gives larger intakes and a deeper chin spoiler too, and a fancy satin silvery gold finish to the grille, mirror caps and wheels.
Win the new BMW M440i in the BOTB Competition!
