This is it - genesis of the Focus RS we all know and love – the legendary Mk1 Focus RS!
We all know the Mk3 Focus RS with its AWD system and drift mode, but back in 2003 the Mk1 took the world by storm – a seriously hot version of the humdrum 3dr Focus, but this time with a turbocharged 2.0 litre engine producing 212bhp (trust us, that was a lot back then) to the front wheels via a 5spd manual gearbox.
There was a limited slip differential and clever suspension geometry to try and cope with putting that power through the front wheels, but the RS was a rowdy yet rewarding drive.
With wider arches, an aggressive front bumper and a set of rally-inspired 18-inch 5-spoke alloys the Mk1 RS looked the part too. Even the interior got a makeover too with a bespoke steering wheel (with blue 12-o’clock marker) and blue-trimmed Sparco racing seats.
