The Honda Civic Type-R is one of the most popular and well-loved cars in the BOTB competition thanks to the engaging driving experience, powerful engine, and crazy looks, but time moves on and Honda had to replace the old model. So did they change the formula? Of course not, they’re not stupid!
Visually the new Type-R takes the aggression of the old one and turns the dial up to 11, so the rear wing is bigger, the wheels are bigger, the front intakes are bigger, the front spoiler lower and the side skirts fatter. It looks like it would drive off the race track, kick you in the shins and steal your wallet.
There’s 10bhp more taking it to 316bhp going through the front wheels, all tamed with a limited-slip differential as before. The driving experience is now better when cruising and just as focused when going for it thanks to the new driving mode options and there’s rev-matching on the 6-speed manual gearbox.
We've driven one of these and it's bonkers! For your chance to own one, get your tickets here.
