« Back Mini Clubman JCW
The first generation Mini Clubman was a bit of an oddity, positioned as the more practical small mini. It was a bit longer than the hatchback, but had an odd single rear side door. Now there’s a proper 5dr Mini hatch, they’ve been able to make the Clubman a bit bigger and give it the full compliment of doors, though thankfully it still retains the quirky, not-very-practical yet super cool split rear doors that open barn-door style like the original 70’s Clubman.
So it’s now a boring, sensible family car now right? Certainly not! This John Cooper Works variant has a 302bhp turbo engine linked to a lovely slick 8spd auto gearbox, and that power goes to all four wheels unlike the hatch so no unruly tyre-scrabbling here. T
The performance natches up to those numbers too with a 4.9 second sprint to 62mph and a 155mph top speed. What you end up with here is a practical, great looking all-weather performance estate car that's got all the Mini coolness as well – sounds pretty good right?
Well you can win one right here in the BOTB Midweek Car Competition this week!
