« Back Porsche 718 Cayman S
Petrolheads world over were saddened when the latest Porsche 718 Boxster was announced, dropping the flat-six engines of old, replacing them with turbocharged flat-four engines. Well as night follows day, Cayman follows Boxster and now becomes the 718 Cayman. As with the 718 Boxster, the new engines are downsized but are more powerful than the units they replace.
The 718 Cayman S gets a 2.5 litre flat-four turbo producing 345bhp and 310lb/ft of torque, which allows 0-62mph in 4.6 seconds and a top speed of 177mph.
Visually there are no surprises as the 718 Cayman S adopts the same styling changes as the Boxster - there’s a new front bumper, headlights, tail lights and rear bumper with the new PORSCHE script across the back, along with some tweaks to the interior. Can it be as popular without the famous flat-six engine? The sales figures certain say so and the driving experience is still absolutely incredible.
