« Back Suzuki Swift Sport + MSRT Transit Connect
SUZUKI SWIFT SPORT
As the entry point for a hot hatch in the Fiesta class now seems to be 200bhp, and with that size car no smaller than the Mk1 Ford Focus, an opening has been created for a smaller hot hatch.
Being smaller they’re lighter too, so don’t need that level of power and that lightness brings a more delicate handling balance too. Suzuki entered this market in 2005 with the Swift Sport and now we have the third generation of that model.
With more dynamic styling it looks sporty and classy, and as always with the Swift, there is a range of funky colours to make it a fun car to be in and drive. That drive is one of the big surprises of the year too, with really playful handling and a comfy ride, helped along by the zingy 1.4-litre turbocharged engine putting out 128bhp. With the latest 48V mild hybrid technology as well, this latest Swift Sport is the most economical and cleanest ever!
It won’t set the world alight performance-wise, but it never feels slow, just remember the old adage - slow in, fast out and carry your speed!
MS-RT TRANSIT CONNECT LAUNCH EDITION
Just because you’re self-employed, it doesn’t mean you have to drive a boring white van does it? Well, certainly not any more thanks to MS-RT and their new Transit Connect!
The MS-RT Transit is already hugely popular in our competition, but a smaller van is more appropriate for a lot of people which is where this new model comes in, and we have to say they’ve done an incredible job – this Transit Connect looks like it’s just driven off a race track or rallying stage, as if Ford had done a one-make race series. With an aggressive front bumper with big intakes, MS-RT logo and a large front splitter, along with a sportier looking grille, this Connect looks seriously imposing in the rear view mirror.
There’s a gorgeous set of 18-inch OZ Alloy wheels and some extended side sills at the side, while the rear gets a lot of work too. There’s an extended roof spoiler and a new rear bumper with side vents, a diffuser and quad exhaust tips. It’s powered by the super-efficient EcoBlue 1.5 litre diesel which manages over 50mpg.
Inside you get a hand crafted MS-RT leather and suede interior, with honeycomb stitching, a sports steering wheel and 6-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Ford’s SYNC3 system, satnav and reversing camera. Other spec highlights include a heated drivers seat, rear parking sensors, A/C, folding and heated mirrors, xenon headlights and Ford’s fantastic QuickClear windscreen.
If you're looking for the perfect combination of motorsport passion and practicality, this one's for you!
