Stroud man wins £50,000 car but is out when its delivered

Apr 2019

A Stroud man won a £50,000 car in a competition but was out when his prize was delivered.

Alan Thomas was on holiday in Spain when a BMW X3 appeared on his drive.

Competition organisers Best of the Best (BOTB) turned up at his house in Ebley to deliver the surprise but found only his son-in-law, Clint, who is renovating the house.

Presenter Christian Williams was forced instead to call Alan, and wife Kay, to reveal the good news.

Alan said: “I can’t believe it, I’m just trying to take it all in.

“Christian, you’re welcome to a few weeks in Spain with us anytime.”

“We’ve never won anything before, this is amazing," added Kay.

The event even had Alan’s neighbours venturing out of their homes to see the supercar, offering their congratulations to the lucky couple.

Christian added: "It was fun to improvise and show Alan what would be waiting for him when he arrived home. I hope he and Kay enjoy the rest of their holiday.”
