Richard Gillett, from Aldershot, learned of his win just an hour after landing in Singapore for a joint birthday trip with his wife.

He entered the competition run by online firm BOTB and was left "speechless" after receiving the news via video call from BOTB presenter Christian Williams.

Richard said: "Wow! I don’t know what to say.

"I obviously enter hoping to win, but you never really think it’s going to happen to you. It’s unbelievable."

The win came at the perfect time, being just ahead of Richard's 66th birthday and during a trip to celebrate his wife's 60th.

Despite the impressive win, Richard said he might take the cash alternative rather than the Range Rover.

He said: "My youngest daughter has just passed her theory test – I can’t exactly let her loose in a Range Rover. So I’ll probably take the money and buy her a nice little runaround."

BOTB presenter Christian Williams said: "It’s always special delivering these surprises, but this one was particularly memorable – not just because of the car, but the timing."
