Forget socks, Lynx Africa giftset or a voucher. A Birmingham man was overjoyed when he won a £78,000 McLaren supercar on his birthday.

Jack Fulford, who currently drives a 'rattling' Fiat Punto, was enjoying a day off to celebrate his 26th when online competition specialist BOTB turned up at his front door with a cake and a McLaren 570GT parked just around the corner.

The McLaren is a dream car for many but Jack is leaning towards taking a cash alternative.

Jake said: "I only usually have a small celebration for my birthday.

“So to get a McLaren, it’s life-changing. What are the chances of winning on my actual birthday? They must have been so slim.”

“This is a step up from my Punto – my car rattles when you start it up.

“It’s a gorgeous car, but I’ve just got nowhere to keep it. If I had a garage, I would have probably kept it.

“That said, taking the cash will allow me to pay off some loans and do a few upgrades to our house.

"My partner and I bought our first home last August, so being able to clear a big chunk of the mortgage will make a huge difference.”

Jack admitted he’d hoped for a win one day – but never expected something quite so spectacular.

“I thought it was feasible to win one of BOTB’s smaller prizes, but not something like this. It’s an unreal feeling to have won. I can’t say exactly what a difference this is going to make,” he added.

Christian said: “Surprising Jack on his birthday with a McLaren and a cake was brilliant – his reaction was priceless!

“It’s moments like this that make what we do so special. Whether he drives off in it or takes the cash, it's an incredible prize either way.”
