Managing director Steve Wortley was celebrating with colleagues this afternoon as he was surprised with a new sports car and £10,000 in cash.

The lucky winner of a competition organised by Best of the Best, Steve was left stunned as staff from the company came down to his office in Cheltenham House to announce his winnings.

He was then led to the Promenade, where a new yellow Porsche Cayman S and £10,000 were waiting for him.

Steve, managing director of Cheltenham company Outsauce, was shaking with delight after being told about his prizes.

“It’s unbelievable, I honestly can’t believe I’ve won,” he said.

“The car is amazing. You never think you would win something like that, and the cash prize is fantastic as well.”

Participants in the competition get to choose their winning prize – either cash or a new car – before playing a Spot the Ball competition.

The person with the closest answer is then declared winner. Steve had to take part in the tie breaker over the weekend, and he got the ball a mere pixel away from the answer.

The 48-year-old said: “I never thought this would have happened to me. I’ve been playing this game for four to five years now.

“It’s just amazing to have won.”

The new Porsche will add to his collection, which already includes his own Porsche Cayenne, which he bought back in May.

He will be giving the new Porsche to his wife, who will then choose a colour.

“I think I’ll go with sapphire blue. It’s a beautiful car, the engine sounds fantastic,” he said.

“We will probably spend some of the money on improving the specs on the car, and I’m sure we will look at all our options of what to do with the money.

“Someone had given me a call on Friday morning to say I might be in for a chance, but I had to take part in a tie breaker.

“Even when I was doing that, I never thought I was that close to winning. It’s an amazing feeling, I can’t stop shaking really.

“I thought there was no way I would win. I never win at any of these competitions.”

A fanatic Manchester United supporter, he will now have to collect his car from a dealership in Leicester.

Rupert Garton, director from Best of the Best, presented the car and money to Steve.

He said: “Steve is our first winner form Cheltenham and we are delighted for him.

“Most of our winners come from the UK, but we make a commitment to deliver the car they win to wherever.

“It’s a skill-based game, so it’s not just luck that’s involved.
