Raj Banga finally got the good news he was waiting for... a new Porsche Cayenne!

There has been a time for most of us when we get the urge to enter a competition to win a free car, whether at the airport or in a shopping centre.

But for one man from Harrow 15 years after first entering the dream car competition with Best of the Best (BOTB), the dream turned into reality.

Raj Banga, a partner at an accountancy practice, finally received the good news that he had won a Porsche Cayenne SE-Hybrid.

Watch his reaction as he receives a call while on a business trip to China.

“I still find it incredible,” he said, after landing back in the UK.

“When I got the call I just couldn't believe it had happened to me. I have always been pretty close, even when I first played at Gatwick back in 2002, but to win is a dream come true.

“My current Mercedes, an ML350, is due to be replaced in July so it’s a great time to win and hopefully I’ll get the Porsche in time to have a seamless handover.”

BOTB was founded by William Hindmarch in 1999 when it opened at Heathrow Airport, and has since handed over the keys to more than £20m worth of supercars.

Based in Fulham, BOTB has high-profile stands at airports and in Britain’s biggest shopping centres, with half of all people playing online.

While Raj isn’t a self-confessed car nut, his motoring history is a stylish list of German brands including Mercedes and BMWs.

Married with three children, Mr Banga enlisted the help of his teenage son in choosing where to put his cross.

“I often ask my son to help but he always says ‘Don’t bother Dad, you’ll never win’. It was a great joy to ring him with the news," he said.

BOTB’s Christian Williams who tracked down Mr Banga while he was on a business trip to China, said:

“Perseverance definitely pays off. Raj has been a fantastic customer for a long time now so it's wonderful to see him win the car of his dreams.

“He certainly proved one of our trickiest winners to get hold of but we finally tracked him down to a hotel in Shanghai and did the surprise over Skype.

"Now he’s back in the UK he can get on with the job of choosing his very own spec!"
