A hard-working Coventry teenager said he was 'lost for words' after being told during an exam that he had won a huge prize. Kye just could not believe his luck when he received a FaceTime on Tuesday (February 6).

Kye, 18, had only entered the BOTB Daily Draws Competition the night before but said he was 'feeling quite lucky.' He said the following day he received a call just minutes into his 'Electrical Exam' at Coventry College.

Answering the FaceTime, the 18-year-old was told he had won a Volkswagen T-Roc worth £32,890 along with £2,000 cash. He said he was 'delighted' to have bagged the huge prize from BOTB.

Kye said: “It feels amazing to have won and I was lost for words when I found out! I had just started the exam so I was already feeling a bit nervous.

“I heard the call come through my AirPods and when I realised it was Christian I had a pretty good idea what it was about and my teacher allowed me to take the call. I had to carry on with my exam afterwards but was really struggling to concentrate as I was buzzing.”

He added: “Luckily, because it is a practical exam, it lasts for three days and my teacher has already said what I have done so far is looking good so I am confident I will pass. I have had my heart set on becoming an electrician since I left school.”

Kye said the win came at a very good time with his driving test booked for Saturday (February 10). He said: “I booked my driving test which I had been trying to do for ages. My instructor has said I am one of the best drivers they have seen for ages so hopefully, I will pass.”

Kye is now weighing up whether to take the £32,890 or the Volkswagen T-Roc. He said: “I would like to use the cash to pay off some debts, invest some and buy myself a cheaper car. I have been looking at Fiestas and Polos.”
