'It's like Christmas': Grandad wins Audi S4 and £15,000 cash {{favouriteCount}} Quantity of Likes

A golf course greenkeeper from Lancashire has won a £50,000 Audi S4 Black Edition and £15,000 in cash.

Ken Fitzgibbon, 62, was in the middle of a shift on the golf course when BOTB’s (Best of the Best) Christian Williams turned up to tell him he was this week’s Midweek Car Competition winner and the new owner of the brand-new car.

Ken, paid £1.50 for his ticket to enter the competition. He said: “I don’t believe it. It was like Christmas when I realised Christian was coming to see me!

“I’ve been playing ever since the airport days. And time after time people have told me to give up, but I didn’t, and now they’re all signing up!”

The father-of-three and grandfather-of-six who lives in Skelmersdale, revealed he had never owned a brand-new car before.

The Audi S4 Black Edition he played for has 19-inch alloy wheels, a virtual cockpit and 342bhp under the bonnet.

“It’s a huge amount of money,” Ken said, in disbelief. “I think it will go towards house improvements and the kids and grandkids. Thank you so much BOTB!”

BOTB presenter Christian Williams said: “I love my job getting to surprise the lucky BOTB winners each week and this week was no different when we got to go to Liverpool to meet Ken. He played for a fantastic prize and I’m super excited for him to get behind the wheel!”

BOTB hands over the keys to two cars each week as well as the lifestyle prize. Other recent winners have bagged a quad bike, a holiday to the Arctic and £15,000 in cash.

BOTB first opened at Heathrow Airport in 1999, with Daveeda Shaheen scooping the first prize. It clocked up its 500th winner in 2019 and many winners continue to play, convinced they have the Midas touch.
