New Car and £10K cash for Great Bentley Main in Competition Win {{favouriteCount}} Quantity of Likes

A Great Bentley resident was shocked when he was presented with a dream car and £10,000 cash after winning a competition.

Mark Walsh, of Great Bentley, won £10,000 cash and a Jaguar V6 F-Type with BOTB's dream car competition.

Mark Walsh, 57, was blown away when he was given a brand new Jaguar V6 F-type, worth more than £60,000, with the money hidden in the boot.

The father-of-three scooped the prize after entering a competition run by BOTB.

Surrounded by family who were in on the surprise, he immediately dashed off to tell his 86-year-old Jaguar-loving dad the good news.

Mr Walsh said: “My son Chris was supposed to be off work to go to the doctors, my wife Maureen took the morning off allegedly to see my oldest son Paul and his twins and my other son Martin took time out from his diving exam in Thailand to take a phone call,.

“I can’t believe I didn’t guess that something was up, there was so much subterfuge but it was all entirely plausible.

“And it was great to have the family involvement, we are all complete petrolheads. Chris was a kart racer and took part in the Super One National Kart Championships, and Paul and Chris haven’t missed a Silverstone Grand Prix since they were eight-years-old.”

He added: “The family has always had a soft spot for Jaguars and my dad is a life-long fan, but he has never actually had one.

“It’s our first Jaguar and our first sports car, which will be fabulous after a lifetime of sensible family cars that don’t get the pulse racing.”

Rupert Garton, of BOTB, said: “Mark has played with us on and off for a number of years and was absolutely delighted not just to have finally won, but to have won a car loved by the whole family.

“And he’s going to have some fun driving around the countryside where he lives. It’s a beautiful sunny spot, perfect for a sporty car in the springtime.
