A Surrey family had their dreams come true where they found out they had won a new sports car with £10,000 in the boot.

The Duarte family, who live in Smallfield, were housebound in the holidays due to a bout of chickenpox.

However they have now won a Range Rover Sport plus £10,000 in the boot from sports car competition company Best of the Best. The surprise was revealed by Best of the Best founder Will Hindmarch on Wednesday (February 18).

Father-of-three Pedro Duarte was at home looking after his four-year-old daughter and her seven-year-old sister when he found out he had won.

Mr Duarte, 46, said: "Such an amazing day, it gave me such a thrill and made me feel alive and well and that's what it's all about.

"I love the Range Rover Sport and even though I didn't really think I'd ever win, I still played for something that would suit me and my family, but to have actually won is out of this world."

Mr Duarte and his wife Lorraine work together as a sales team for a British manufacturers and Lorraine was at a meeting when the surprise came. He was also looking forward to telling his car loving nine-year-old son about the new car.

Will Hindmarch said: "The Range Rover Sport is a popular car among our winners but you could see why Pedro has chosen it. The girls came outside with their dad to see the car and obviously loved it.

"I hope they get a lot of joy out of the car as a family, once the chickenpox clears up!"

Best of the Best was founded by Mr Hindmarch in 1999, since then the keys to more than £17million worth of supercars have been handed over.
