David Watson was with his son Alonso when he received surprise video call.

This is the moment a bodyguard was told he'd won £5,000 as he picked up his shopping in Iceland.

David Watson was at Iceland store in Kingstanding with his son Alonso and friend Roger when he received a surprise video call from Christian Williams, presenter on lifestyle competition BOTB.

David was shocked to receive the call and can be heard saying “Christian! Oh my God, I am over the moon.

“You have really made my day."

The money has come at just the right time for the bodyguard, who is in the process of changing jobs after finishing his previous position last week.

He added: “I’ve got around three weeks to spare while I transition into a new job, so this has come just at the right time for me, it’s amazing."

Christian, who joked that David should accompany him as a bodyguard to any giveaway surprises he had to attend in the future, said it had been a great surprise call to make.

He said: “It’s not every day you get to give someone £5,000 while they do their weekly shop – especially not a bodyguard.

“It’s always a good feeling when the prizes that we give are able to help someone when they need it most. I’m so glad we got to make that happen for David this week."

Since being founded in 1999 by William Hindmarch, BOTB has given away over £26.8m worth of prizes.
