A construction worker from Bristol was reduced to tears after winning an Aston Martin car.

Lucky Pete Donacchie was left in shock when he was told his dream had come true and he had won the Aston Martin Vantage S – worth a staggering £98,000.

The manager at Taylor Wimpey was ambushed by BOTB at his company’s Almondsbury offices on Tuesday, May 30 and shown the car.

The 58-year-old was overwhelmed with shock, tears and laughter as he realised he had won his dream car.

“I’m always the kind of guy who has a smile on his face but I literally can’t stop grinning,” said Pete.

“I’ve been playing this game for years - maybe five or six - and I always hoped I’d win, but when they turn up on your doorstep with the car it still takes forever to sink in.

“I was just overwhelmed with emotion. It’s such a huge slice of luck to win something like this. I just can’t wait to take it on some of the coastal roads and put it to the test.”

BOTB.com gives away a supercar every week with contestants choosing their dream vehicle from more than 180 models and paying £3 or more for a ticket.

Then the company asks contestants to spot the ball from a picture of a football game with the nearest – as deemed by a panel of sporting experts – taking home the prize.

Within minutes of popping the champagne cork, Pete was planning a trip to Aston Martin to configure his model.

Pete admitted that he won’t be taking the new car for too much of a spin after racking up a few speeding points in the past few years.

“They’re due to come off soon,” he smiled.

“I’ve got a few too many for comfort so I’ll need to stick to the limits when the car arrives.”

Christian Williams, who handed Pete the keys in front of stunned staff members, said it was one of the best surprises yet.

“I reckon I have one of the best jobs in the world, handing people the keys to their dream car,” said Christian.
