A 25-year-old from Cambourne discovered he'd won two supercars worth £88,000 yesterday (December 31) - after his old Ford Focus broke down on Christmas Day.

Kieran Groom was at work at Mercedes Cambridge in Barnwell Road when he was surprised with the cars and the news that he had won.

His girlfriend Jessica Willmott surprised him along with Christian Williams from BOTB, the company that ran the competition.

Kieran said: "I saw Christian first, and I didn't really believe that it was him, I had to have a second look to see whether it was him or not. After that I was shaking uncontrollably.

"The only person that knew was my girlfriend who came in with them, she found out at 10am this morning. She was texting me all the while about other things and I had no idea."

The prizes for the New Year's Eve jackpot were a brand new Mercedes A35 AMG, worth £36,000, a Porsche Cayman S, worth £52,000 and £20,000 in cash.

The 25-year-old has decided to enter the draw on a whim while researching how to replace his old Ford Focus.

He said: "I saw the advert for it (BOTB) and I said to my girlfriend, I think we should enter, just on a whim, not thinking I'd win anything. I'm still not all there, I'm still processing it."

BOTB presenter Christian said: "I love surprising people with their cars every week but this one was really special.

"Being able to give Kieran the keys to two amazing cars - and £20,000 in cash - on New Year's Eve was simply incredible. What a great way to end the year."

For Kieran, the shock has yet to sink in, but he has already started to think about how best to invest his cash.

He said: "I want to help out my mum as much as I can, put a deposit down on a house, or put it into savings for a house, and that's it really.

"Maybe a holiday but nothing too extravagant."
