Arfan Asghar, from Rotherham, received a video call from BOTB presenter Will Cozens who surprised him with the news he was a Midweek Lifestyle Competition winner. The 39-year-old driving instructor, who is currently renting, described his cash prize as “life-changing” as it means he will now be able to put it towards buying a new house.

“It feels amazing to have won and is the first time I have won anything of this scale,” the father-of-two said. “It is a huge amount of money and is going to be life-changing for me.

“Me and my family currently rent, which is quite expensive, so hopefully this means we can now put a deposit down on our own house.” Arfan, who was back at work the next day, said he would also like to use some of the money for a family holiday. “I think a small sunshine holiday to somewhere like Morocco is definitely on the cards,” he added.

BOTB hands over the keys to a stunning dream car each week as well as a lifestyle prize. The competition experts recently gave away its biggest ever competition giveaway, with pizza delivery driver Marius Preda from Tamworth bagging a whopping £500,000 cash prize.

Founded by William Hindmarch in 1999, it has given away £64m-worth of cars so far. Will said: “It was amazing to be able to surprise Arfan with this fantastic cash prize.

“After years of steering his students to success, it's great to see him enjoy his own good fortune. The cash will certainly come in handy as he looks to get on the property ladder.”
