What a car this is. Visually it knocks it out of the park – flared RS wheel arches with some delicious surfacing make them a design feature and stand out.
The front end has large intakes and a low splitter, which, combined with the broader wings, makes the RS4 look incredibly aggressive, while the back has a diffuser and, of course, the trademark RS oval exhaust pipes.
In 2020, there was a facelift to bring it in line with the rest of the A4 range, which added sleeker headlights and a nose that looks much like the bigger RS6 - it was certainly not a bad thing!
The noise from those pipes is slightly different, though, as the thundering V8 has been replaced - much as it was in the RS5 - by a 2.9-litre twin-turbo V6.
That lump produces the same 444bhp as the V8 but now has 600Nm of torque – a significant increase. This means performance is crazy – 0-62mph officially takes 4.1 seconds...but knowing Audi, that will be below 4 seconds in real life.
An 8-speed paddle shift gearbox transmits power to all four wheels as expected, which means you can enjoy that power in all weather conditions.
