Audi RS4 Avant

Audi RS4 Avant

REVIEW

What a car this is. Visually it knocks it out of the park – flared RS wheel arches with some delicious surfacing really make them a design feature and stand out.

The front end has big intakes and a low splitter, which combined with the wider wings makes the RS4 look incredibly aggressive, while the back has a diffuser and of course the trademark RS oval exhaust pipes.

For 2020 there's a facelift to bring it in line with the rest of the A4 range too, which adds sleeker headlights and a nose that looks a lot like the bigger RS6 - certainly not a bad thing!

The noise coming out of those pipes will be a little different this time though as the thundering V8 has been replaced - much as it was in the RS5 - by a 2.9-litre twin-turbo V6.

That lump produces the same 444bhp as the V8 but now has 600Nm of torque – a big increase. This means performance is crazy – 0-62mph officially takes 4.1 seconds...but knowing Audi that will be below 4 seconds in real life.

There’s an 8-speed paddle shift gearbox that transmits power to all four wheels as expected, which means you can enjoy that power in all weather conditions.

Add in the massive estate boot and incredible interior and you have the most complete car on sale today.
