Pay attention hot hatch fans - this is BMW’s first attempt at taking the Golf GTi head on, with this – the 128ti.
Sitting below the M135i in the 1-Series lineup, it features the same 2.0 litre 4cyl turbo engine seen in various hot BMW’s and Minis, this time producing 261bhp and 400Nm of torque – going to the FRONT WHEELS only via an 8spd auto ‘box.
Those wheels are rather important as this is BMW’s first FWD hot hatch, and in price, layout and specs it’s bang on the money with the new Golf GTi DSG – so it’ll be very interesting to see how this new 1-Series drives!
Visually it gets a lot of little touches as standard too, which is nice to see. There’s a more aggressive front splitter, side sills and rear spoiler, with red accents around the car and a ‘ti’ sticker on the side.
They’re standard on the free white paint too, along with 18-inch alloys and a special interior with red stitching – it certainly looks special!
Win the brand new BMW 128ti in the BOTB Competition!
