With manufacturers pumping out SUV after SUV, it seems the days are numbered for traditional large saloons like the BMW 5-Series and Mercedes E-Class.
But there are still plenty of people who want a comfortable saloon car and let's be honest - they'll always be lighter and better to drive than an SUV!
But with diesel being a bit of a dirty word these days, where does the saloon buyer go? Well BMW would have them get into one of these – the 530e iPerformance. Using a combination of 2.0 litre four cylinder turbo petrol engine and hybrid system with electric motors, it has a useful 248bhp and 420Nm of torque, which means if you’re in Eco mode you’ll get the equivalent of 118mpg and use just 49g/km of CO2.
That's great news for those doing big miles as you get low running costs and still get the great driving aspects of a 5-Series. This M-Sport version also gets sportier exterior looks with more aggressive bumpers and larger wheels, so you look good while being eco friendly...double win!
