« Back Nissan Datsun MZR 240Z Sport Design
The Datsun 240Z was launched in 1970 as Japan’s answer to European sports cars like the MGB GT, BMW CS and Porsche 911, but never really achieved the sales success of those rivals. Since then it has had somewhat of a renaissance in popularity and people have rediscovered the playful handling, classic long bonnet coupe looks and Japanese reliability.
But as is the way these days, a near-50yr old car will always have issues, which is where Bradford, UK-based MZR Roadsports come in. MZR have been specialising in 240Z’s for years and have now decided to offer some turn-key models that offer the best of the ’70s, brought bang up to date with modern production and technology.
Each 240Z they recreate gets a fully strengthened and refinished body and chassis, a fresh paint job and underbody sealing making it better than new. The mechanical parts also get uprated such as a reworked 2.8 litre engine with Jenvey throttle bodies (with a more powerful bored out 3.1 engine optional) linked to a modern 6-spd manual gearbox, all controlled by ECU for reliability. The cooling system is upgraded too, so no overheating worries, while there are also improvements to the suspension, steering, brakes, wheels and exhaust.
This Sport Design model really does feel like a new car, and there are plenty of options you can specify as well to make it even more usable in the modern era such as push button starting, keyless entry, central locking and even DAB radio.
This MZR 240Z really does give you the best of old and new mixed together in a beautiful 70’s style - and you could win this amazing £110,000 car in the BOTB Dream Car competition!
This car comes with £50,000 cash included in the price of your ticket.
