« Back Volkswagen Golf GTi Performance
Is there a hatchback more iconic than the Golf GTi? Some may say yes, but since the lightweight, nimble Mk1 of the 70's the Golf GTi has always meant affordable fun motoring, with a classless look meaning it doesn't look out of place outside a chip shop or a casino. With the latest GTi VW have pulled out all the stops – lighter than the Mk6, with more power and a chassis that is pure delight. Add in the classic tartan interior, golf ball shaped gear knob and the red stripe which now extends from the grille into the headlights and you have a very distinctive hot hatch with quality to rival many cars in the class above. For 2018 the Mk7.5 GTi gets a modest 10bhp power hike to 237bhp, plus new TFT dials, LED headlights and gesture control for the Satnav/Infotainment system.
