With looks that are virtually indistinguishable from the GTI, you get the same sleek yet sporty front end with multi-hexagonal foglights, 18-inch alloy wheels and roof spoiler and twin exhausts at the rear. The GTD also gets Matrix LED headlights as standard, plus a whole host of other tech like keyless entry, adaptive cruise control, wireless CarPlay/Android Auto, sports seats and more.

The GTD is powered by a 2.0-litre i4 turbo diesel engine which produces 197bhp and 400Nm of torque, sent to the front wheels via VW’s excellent DSG dual-clutch automatic gearbox for super-fast slick shifts. That engine and gearbox means that along with the great performance you’ll get well over 50mpg in everyday driving too!
