Dad wins thousands from a 95p competition ticket

Apr 2022

A Carterton man scored a big win after taking home £15,000 from a 95p competition ticket.

Simon Clarke won a BMW motorbike worth thousands in an online Spot the Ball football competition by predicting the whereabouts of a removed ball in an image.

However, even though Mr Clarke has always been a fan of motorcycles he opted to swap the machine for cash and will spending it on a long-overdue holiday.

Mr Clarke said: “I’ve spoken to my fiancee and I’ve been instructed to take the cash alternative.

"I think we’ll use it to go on holiday with the kids. I usually stay at home to work so it will be a nice way to do something all together.”

The competition was run by Best of the Best plc (BOTB) which runs weekly Dream Car, Midweek Car and Lifestyle Competitions online.

It uses former professional footballers to judge the competition independently each week, alongside current and former referees.

Mr Clarke found out the good news in a video call with BOTB presenter Christian Williams.

Mr Williams said: “A huge congratulations to Simon - it’s a lot of money so I completely get why he’s chosen the cash alternative. Enjoy your holiday, Simon.”
