Clarkston man will travel in style thanks to cash windfall

Apr 2020

An East Renfrewshire man will be able to enjoy his retirement in luxury after winning £5000 in lifestyle competition, BOTB.

Fraser Currie, from the Clarkston area, regularly takes his caravan out for trips around the UK with friends, and now he is semi-retired he says he will have more time to do so.

“I think I’m definitely going to be looking at upgrading my caravan with this money,” said the 54-year-old former stock controller.

“I really enjoy going on breaks all over the UK, but none more so than right here in Scotland, we have some remarkable places to visit. Now I’ll be able to travel in a fresh new caravan.”

Fraser has been playing the BOTB competition for a couple of years, but this was the first time he had won, and he was left shocked when presenter Christian Williams called to give him the good news.

“You never really expect to win these things,” he said. “Now I’ve won I can give myself a treat when we are allowed to go out again.”

BOTB’s Christian, who surprises winners weekly all over the world, was thrilled to be able to give Fraser the good news.

“When someone has a real dream for what they will do with the money, it makes it that bit more special,” he said.

“We’re glad that Fraser can get the caravan upgrade he really wants, and can enjoy his retirement travelling around visiting all the beautiful places we have to see in the UK.”

Since being founded in 1999 by William Hindmarch, BOTB has given away over £29m worth of prizes.

Listed on the stock market, BOTB has high-profile stands at airports, as well as online at BOTB.com
