Local family win £20,000 and plan dream holiday and kitchen makeover

Mar 2024

A local dad-of-two has revealed is family are planning a dream holiday after finding out he had won £20,000. Steve Wells scooped the huge prize from BOTB.

Steve, who served in the Royal Corps of Signals, said he would love to take his family to see an iconic landmark after winning the BOTB Daily Draws Competition. Presenter Christian Williams told the 53-year-old he had won the huge prize on Wednesday, March 13.

He shared his joy at winning but was left in stitches when his young son asked when he could have a new iPhone. Steve went on to say that the whole experience had been 'wonderful.'

Steve said: “It feels brilliant to have won and the whole thing has just been a wonderful experience. We were looking at Florida and possibly a trip to Disneyland last year, but it was just so expensive and did not feel like we could justify spending that kind of money.”

He added: “I would rather spend the money on a proper lifetime experience and take the family to see one of the Seven Wonders of the World.”

Steve, from Stratford in Warwickshire, recalled the moment he was told he had won the huge prize, saying: “I screen-shared the video of me winning from my phone to the TV, and my daughter got quite emotional seeing me and Christian. My son wanted to know when he was going to get a new iPhone."

He is also planning on using some of his cash prize on a kitchen makeover. He said: “Ironically, we had a structural engineer who came out the same day I found out I had won to give me advice on how to knock the kitchen wall through to the dining room.”
