Former homeless Islington man wins £25k cash prize from BOTB

Mar 2024

Filimon Mogos, who has been temporarily living in a church in Islington after being made homeless, won the cash prize in the Daily Draws competition run by online competition specialist BOTB. The construction worker was on a break at work when he received the news via video call from BOTB presenter Will Cozens.

"I was shaking and just in complete shock.

He added: "I’ve never won anything before and this is going to change my life for the better. I couldn't be more grateful to BOTB."

Filimon said that when he shared the news with his family they were very excited and started crying. The money opens up opportunities for Filimon, who has been temporarily living between a church in Islington and his girlfriend's house. He now has ambitions to put the money to good use by setting up his own business. He said: "I would love to run my own business one day, maybe a small shop.

"I am also planning a holiday with my family to Greece, which is somewhere I have never been before."

BOTB presenter Will Cozens said: "It was wonderful to surprise Filimon and see his reaction to winning this fantastic cash prize. £25,000 is a huge amount of money and it sounds like it is going to make a real difference to his life."

BOTB hands over the keys to a dream car each week, with a lifestyle prize also up for grabs. The online competition specialist was founded by William Hindmarch in 1999 and has awarded £64 million worth of cars to this date. It started at Heathrow Airport in 1999, with the first prize scooped by Daveeda Shaheen.

Now based in Fulham, BOTB has had winners all across the globe, all with different reactions chronicled on their website. To see Filimon's reaction, and the reactions of other fortunate winners, visit BOTB.com.
