Lancashire dad swaps 70p ticket for £20,000 cash prize

Sep 2022

A Lancashire man who ‘never wins anything’ had his luck turned upside down after scooping a huge £20,000 cash prize.
Brian Scott, 67, spent just 70p on his ticket ticket, which entered him into competition website Best of the Best's (BOTB) midweek lifestyle competition.
He was busy stripping pallets at work when he reviewed the lifechanging video-called him informing him that he'd scooped a massive £20,000 cash prize.
“I never win anything,” he laughed. “I can’t believe it!”
The retired father-of-three, who paid just 70p for his ticket to enter, explained the first thing he’ll spend the cash on is a holiday.

“We’ve not been on holiday for years because of Covid so that’s our first port of call,” he laughed. “Probably somewhere like the Canary Islands - we like it there.”
Brian lives with his wife, Joanne, and has three children.

“After that, I’ll probably look at a new car as I’ve had my Ford Fiesta for 13 years now,” he added. “I think I’m due an upgrade!”
Sean, who is part of the team surprising BOTB winners each week, said: “Brian sounds like a really deserving winner and I was thrilled to be the one to give him the good news. He sounds like he has some great plans for the cash!”

BOTB hands over the keys to one car each week as well as the lifestyle prize. Other recent winners have bagged a quad bike, a top gaming bundle and a top Rolex watch.
The company, listed on the stock market, was founded by William Hindmarch in 1999 and has given away more than £47m worth of cars so far.
