We all love Alpine here at BOTB, the A110 is one of the best sports cars of the last 20yrs thanks to the obsession with light weight and delicate handling. But times change and the next model from Alpine is now an electric hot hatch!
Using the new Renault 5 as it’s base, the A290 adds a much more aggressive front bumper, wider arches, a neat detail in the rear doors to mimic the classic Renault 5 Turbo2, rear spoiler and diffuser and some 19-inch alloy wheels.
The interior is cool, sporty and super high quality, with premium audio, lumbar adjustment for the sports seats and 2-tone leather. There’s even an Overtake button on the steering wheel that gives a boost of power.
There’s a 52kWH battery under the floor which means the A290 GTS has a WLTP range of 236 miles, but thanks to 100kW DC charging you can add 150 miles in 30 mins.
