JAECOO 5 PURE
Jaecoo has seemingly come out of nowhere in the UK, from first appearances to topping the sales charts in just a couple of years with their Jaecoo 7 SUV.
Well now they’re attacking the smaller compact SUV market with the Jaecoo 5. Sharing the same baby-Range Rover looks as it’s bigger brother (even more so, some would say), the 5 majors on value for money that make it a sure-fire hit.
The same 1.6 litre petrol engine powers the Jaecoo 5, while even in base Pure trim it still comes with 18-inch alloy wheels, a 540-degree pano view camera, 13.2-inch infotainment display and CarPlay.
VOLVO XC60 T8 ULTRA
The Volvo XC60 T8 Recharge Ultra is one of the most popular large SUVs on the market, so we were excited to hear they were replacing the mid-sized XC60. And we were right to be, as the new XC60 is everything we want in a mid-sized SUV – stylish, economical, fast, and high-quality.
The exterior takes the XC90’s look and adds sportiness and aggression, while the interior is the best we’ve seen. It’s stunning, from the portrait centre console screen to the 3D wood trim. And this T8 has some more tricks up its sleeve – like 401bhp and 640Nm of torque.
But that only tells half the story – this T8 is a hybrid, so you get a claimed 134.5mpg (expect 65mpg real-world driving), and just 49g/km of CO2 means the lowest possible tax. Yet it still does 0-62mph in 4.9 seconds, then cruises around town silently on electric power.
