VOLKSWAGEN GOLF R
The Volkswagen Golf R is one of the most popular cars in the BOTB lineup, and with good reason – the perfect combination of all-weather performance, practicality, subtle looks, and VW build quality means it's the performance hot hatch that everyone wants.
VW has introduced the Golf R with minor improvements that aim to make the best even better. Firstly, the 2.0-litre turbocharged 4-cylinder engine now has 329bhp and 420Nm, meaning the 0-62mph time has dropped to 4.6 seconds. The power still goes to all four wheels via the 7-spd DSG gearbox.
There’s a new torque vectoring system for the AWD setup, more camber on the front wheels, stiffer spring rates all around, quicker steering, lighter and more powerful brakes, and there’s even a Drift Mode that puts most of the power to the rear wheels.
The best has just got better!
AUDI RS6 PERFORMANCE
What’s better than an RS6? The new RS6 Avant Performance of course!
Audi really doesn’t believe in resting on their laurels – the RS6 is the go-to fast large estate car and has only been on sale for two years, but they’ve already updated it with the new, faster RS6 Avant Performance.
The styling stays the same – why change such a stunning looking, powerful, aggressive estate car? But now there are a gorgeous set of lightweight 22-inch alloy wheels as standard, amplifying the stance and aggressiveness even more.
The real changes come under the skin – the 4.0 litre twin turbo V8 powerhouse of an engine has been tickled, fitted with larger turbos and now produces 621bhp and a massive 850Nm of torque. The 0-62mph sprint has been cut to 3.4 seconds which is crazy fast for such a big car.
Audi has removed some sound deadening, too, so it’s a little noisier than before (a good thing), and that cuts some weight, too, which helps the handling. The standard equipment now includes a head-up display, rear steering and a Quattro Sport rear differential too.
The best really has got even better, and you could win both in the BOTB Dream Car Competition!
