When we added the VW California to the BOTB competition we never guessed it would be so popular, but week after week it is one of the best selling tickets. We then added the Mercedes Marco Polo too and that's done the same.
Some people did complain though, that they are both too small for a ‘real’ motorhome, so we thought we’d add in a ‘proper’ motorhome from Hymer. With so many options to choose from, we went for the second-longest Fiat Ducato-based body, called the Grand Canyon.
It has so much kit including a toilet, shower, double bed and lots of room in the living area with a fridge and sink/cooker. We also added the pop-up roof for that extra double bed, an awning so you can sit outside in comfort and visually we added the Crossover Maxi pack which gives you 18-inch alloy wheels and a more chunky ‘adventure’ look.
Mechanically we’ve upgraded the engine to the 177bhp 2.3 diesel and given you an automatic gearbox so you can pilot your big bus with ease.
This really is everything you could want from a motorhome, before you get into the realms of the enormous purpose-built machines.
