Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk

Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk

REVIEW

We’ve always been quite big fans of the Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT that features in our competition normally. It’s a great looking SUV with lots of American charm to it, but they decided to stick a 6.2 litre V8 under the bonnet to make it into a sort of burbly, muscle car off-roader. But that came with ‘only’ 461bhp which meant it needed more power – said no one, ever. But deep in the heart of Jeep’s engineering department someone had drunk a little too much Red Bull and decided that they needed a more powerful Grand Cherokee and stuck a different engine in it. A Hellcat engine. No, not a detuned version – the full-house 700bhp Hellcat 6.2 litre supercharged V8. In an SUV. That means this 2.5 tonne behemoth can hit 62mph in a staggering 3.7 seconds – that’s as quick as a Ferrari 458. All the while it makes the most hilarious noise – like a Nascar racer on steroids, with an overlay of glorious supercharger whine. Yeah! America!
