Well, here it is – the reinvention of an icon. It has been a long time coming, but finally, Land Rover has released the all-new Defender! Alongside the Aston Martin Vantage, this must have been one of the hardest design jobs in the business – replace one of the most iconic cars on the roads today, one that dates back decades and has in recent times had a resurgence thanks to the rugged cool looks. But you couldn’t go too retro, or people would say it isn’t modern, so there are certainly nods to the old Defender, but it’s a fresh design that sits well in the LR lineup.

Chunky wheel arches, the signature floating roof with ‘Alpine windows’ on the top, a dominating grille and big chunky tyres so you can drive over anything. Inside, it is far more modern, full of the latest tech, but it still has a reassuringly old school feel to the layout. Being the 110 model, this Defender has 5 doors and a long wheelbase for plenty of room inside, but for this, ITH treat, we’re going all out – the most expensive Defender 110 you can currently buy – the brand new V8!

The V8 only comes with one engine choice, naturally – Land Rover’s tried and trusted monster 5.0 litre supercharged V8 engine, which puts out 518bhp and 625Nm of torque. That means this Defender can sprint to 62mph in just 5.3 seconds and go on to 149mph!! All while making the most wonderful V8 burble and growl, thanks to the quad exhaust pipes.

With the V8 trim level, you get pretty much every box ticked, including 22” wheels, matrix LED headlights, panoramic roof, blue brake callipers, gloss black bonnet, full premium leather interior, all the off-roading options, Keyless Entry, Meridian sound system, head-up display and larger infotainment screen to name but a few.

And you could win one this week in the BOTB Dream Car Competition!
