Land Rover Urban Defender Vintage

Land Rover Urban Defender Vintage

REVIEW

To say that the Land Rover Defender has a cult following is a bit of an understatement. People love the Defender for its rugged looks, go-anywhere ability and the feeling that when the world ends it’ll still be there, waiting to take you up a mountain. But luxury and style was never really its strong point, focusing mainly on utilitarian qualities, which is where UK based modifier Urban comes in. First they take the 2.2 litre engine and increase the power from 120 bhp to 168 bhp, giving a marked increase in performance. Then the work really starts - this Vintage spec Defender is painted in a selection of classic paint colours just like those in the 60s and 70's, and there are new wheels to match in a wider format with chunkier tyres. All the usual Urban Defender goodies are there too like their lights, suspension, exhaust system and grille, not to mention the little things most don't notice like the new billet hinges. To complete the package they add better seats and cover the whole interior in high quality leather, giving a real luxury feel and add sound deadening and a new infotainment system. There really is nothing like it…
