When the Countryman was originally launched, it was a huge success. It brought the Mini’s funky styling and endless customisation to a family-friendly small SUV body. But it was fairly small, and that limited its market – well, not anymore.
The new model has grown considerably and it now has a far more grown-up look too – this all-new model has completely ditched the ‘cutesy’ Mini look and has gone for full-on modern aggression and angled design.
It’s still a Mini, not to upset the current owners wanting to upgrade, but it's different enough to make it stand out. This is the top-of-the-range John Cooper Works performance model, too, so there’s a new 2.0-litre turbocharged engine under the bonnet producing 296bhp, which is sent to all four wheels via an 8spd auto as standard, so expect epic performance in any weather.
The interior sees a huge upgrade, too, with the dash taking inspiration from the original 60’s Mini with only a huge round central dash screen for information and infotainment. There’s a standard Head-up display though, so you still get the speedo in front of you. There’s funky mood lighting and a set of gorgeous sports seats, too, so it really looks the part. Being a Mini, you can personalise the way it looks to your heart’s content, too.
