The first generation Mercedes-AMG GT was a huge hit, with proper old-school proportions of a massively long bonnet hiding a powerful V8 engine, RWD and two seats sitting almost on the rear axle. But times change…

This new AMG GT may look the same at a casual glance, but on closer inspection, you notice the slightly shorter bonnet and longer cabin – the GT has grown up and is taking the fight directly to the 911 Turbo. So now it’s AWD and there are two occasional seats in the back as well as a huge boot.

No need to worry that the downsizing that hit the C63 has hit here too, though – under that bonnet still resides a monstrous 4.0-litre twin turbo V8, now producing 577bhp and 800Nm of torque. That means 0-62mph is dealt with in 3.2 seconds, and it almost hits 200mph!

The interior is taken from the new Mercedes-AMG SL too, so there’s an incredibly stylish dashboard with a massive central infotainment screen, with all the luxury you’d expect from a Mercedes. It’s guaranteed to sound amazing too!
