Porsche 911 Carrera T

Porsche 911 Carrera T

REVIEW

There’s a change in the winds at Porsche recently. When they brought out the 991 GT3 in PSK only there was a massive backlash, so the latest GT3 has a manual gearbox option and even an option to remove the rear wing and soften up the suspension. But that’s still a £115k car (if you can get one), so Porsche has decided to apply the GT3 logic and create a back-to-basics 911 called the Carrera T. Taking inspiration from the classic 911 of the same name, it weighs in at 20kg less than the standard Carrera on which it’s based thanks to thinner rear and side glass, fabric door pulls, reduced sound deadening and the option of the GT3’s bucket seats. The engine is the standard 365bhp turbo flat-six but now the power goes through the seven-speed manual gearbox which has shorter ratios. The PDK gearbox is available as an option though, should you prefer it. There’s also a bit more spec such as the 20-inch alloy wheels, grey graphics and deeper front splitter. Given how well the standard Carrera drives this could very well be the best driving 911 yet…
