Before you look at this SUV and think it’s just another Cayenne Coupe, think again. Because this Porsche Cayenne Turbo GT is now officially the fastest production SUV around the fabled Nurburgring, beating the previous record holder with a time of 7 minutes, 38.9 seconds (it beat the Audi RSQ8 by 3 seconds and the Lamborghini Urus by 8 seconds).
To achieve this, the Turbo GT isn’t just another parts bin exercise with the boost turned up on the engine. Well, naturally it does have that – the 4.0 litre twin turbo V8 now puts out 631bhp and 850Nm – which is enough for a 3.3 second sprint to 62mph. In a 2-tonne SUV!
But there are a whole host of other changes that mark this out as a serious performance SUV – up front there’s a new lip spoiler with increased cooling ducts, a bigger carbon roof spoiler, a bootlid lip spoiler and a larger (functional) diffuser housing the twin central exhaust pipes.
Under the skin there are 22-inch wheels as standard, as are the Porsche Ceramic brakes and the chassis is reworked, running 17mm lower all around, extra camber, firmer settings and spring rates for the air suspension and tweaks to the stabilisation systems.
All this adds up to a Cayenne that is pretty much the fastest, best to drive and most fun SUV on sale today – which is pretty exciting!
And you can win a Porsche Cayenne Turbo GT in the BOTB Dream Car Competition!
